Dr. Marie Jacobsson is Principal Legal Adviser on International
Law to the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and a Member
of the United Nations International Law Commission (ILC). She
is also an Associate Professor of International Law at the University
of Lund, Sweden. She publishes academic and popular scientific
articles on a regular basis and is a frequent lecturer at Swedish
and foreign universities. She has a long-standing interest in
polar regions law, Law of the Sea and international security
policy, including UN law. She wrote her doctoral thesis on the
Antarctic Treaty System (The Antarctic Treaty System: Erga Omnes
or Inter Partes), University of Lund.
